AD2181 We have never covered a plane completely with just strapping tape so I could not tell you for sure which would be heavier. It would probably be pretty close in weight I’m thinking but maybe a little heavier. The purpose for the weave is it makes the plane more ridged and crash proof.

    Hi,
Is the weight of Henry’s 183 fiber + glue ighter than covering the whole plane with strapping tape instead. What is the advantage of this combo? Thanks I’m a newbe, I have used strapping on the leading edge to limit crash damage.

harveymacdonald rcFoamFighters does not have any products to sell or ship at this point in time. The EPP foam can be bought through the link in the video sidebar to our affiliate rcSkyFlyer. They ship internationally. You will need to get everything else online or at local stores or hobby shops.

  4. harveymacdonald

do you ship to the uk??

KF is a type of airfoil. Please check out the link to KF airfoil info in the video sidebar. It willl take you to the section fo rcFoamFighters blog with lots of info on the different types of KF airfoils.

Please click on the link to rcFoamFighters blog in the video sidebar for more info and parts list on this plane. For pricing on Foam please go to rcskyflyer our affiliates website. link also in video side bar

What the heck is KF??? Some kind of foam I assume?

  8. harveymacdonald

how much will all that epp cost and what size do you use and what thick ness??

hmmn ow that u mention weight i think its a pretty heavy glue, but otherwise really strong. i was thinking of using it on my parkzone spitfire which ive upgraded to brushless, and since the airframe and wings dont hold up to the stress of the speed. the wings bend and flex and its gutwrenching each time i see it. the motors hella powerful so i think can support the extra weight. anwyays thanks for your input!

  10. rcFoamFighters

angrygunsmith you may be better off asking your uncle about this glue as we have never used it before. It would come down to how strong it holds and how much weight it would add to the plane. If both these are good I see no reason why it could not be used. Experimenting is the only true way to find out.

  11. angrygunsmith

hey my uncle is an upholstere. like doing trimming jobs in cars and all that stuff. he has this glue gun, hooked up ot the air compressor, he uses it to stick leather on foam and do all the upholsterey. not sure what hte glue is called but can i use it, its upholstery glue.

Thank you very much for this answer, I think I got scared a bit :-) I am not an experienced airplane builder. I keep building along, and I guess that the test flights are going to decide if I did an ok job. Now that I am building the plane along with you I realize even more how good and detailed your instructions are. Even for a non experienced enthusiast like me it is fun and not to hard to build this almost indestructible plane with your experienced guidance. I’m ready for the next phase :-)

insASneTunA I can’t tell you if you should build the plane or not. That will have to be your own decision. What I can tell you is that Paul’s new EPP park jet weighed in at over 900 grams and it flies great and is very fast. It really depends on the power system you will run on the plane. If you build it, you will need to have at least a 1 to 1 trust ratio. The trust should be equal to the weight of the plane or better. The KF airfoil should help lift the extra weight.

  14. insAneTunA

P.S. Thank you for the information.

together with the airfoils I am at 511 Gram. I am getting a bit worried now I think that when I am finished it is going to weigh a 1000 gram. It is very strong though, I think I can even stand on it. I know my motor can handle more then 1000 gram but that is when it is mounted on a easystar which has a lot of lift because originally it is a glider. do you think that I should finish the build anyway or doesn’t it make sense because of the weight ?

waterchildtera the plane has a KFm4 airfoil which is on the top and bottom of the wing. Now that I put the second layer of fiberglass over the KF airfoils the wing is stiff as a board with almost no flex at all.

  17. rcFoamFighters

At the moment the wing wth the fiberglass weave glued on weighs around 9oz or 255grams. This is going to be a heavy plane but the KF airfoil should help it with the weight

  18. waterchildtera

is the kf af on top and bottom of wing?
if so you didnt show it?
and how much flex does it have with henerys ! any ???
    looking good fellas

  19. insAneTunA

Can you give some information about the weight of the plane so far?

  20. insAneTunA

I like it a LOT !!! Since I live in Europe (Holland) I could not get the adhesive so instead I used epoxy and fiberglass cloth. I also used some 2 milimeter carbon rods to stiffen up the plane. I am using depron to make the airfoils although the depron sheets are just 6 millimeter. I hope that it doesn’t matter that I use 6 millimeter sheets instead of 8?

Thanks for the comment Gezelem2002! There will be more video coming soon. So please stay tuned.

  22. rcFoamFighters

Cool! Glad you like it insAneTunA!

  23. rcFoamFighters

Yes kapitanC it is going to be a type of flying wing. but it should look a little different and fly great too!

  24. rcFoamFighters

Thanks startazz! Phase I of the build usually takes the longest time. Once the airframe is complete things should go together pretty quickly. I’m starting to like the way she’s looking too!

  25. Gezelem2002

    Good Stuff !!
